Comedian Doug Stanhope "If you really believe there is an afterlife of eternal bliss and happiness then why are you wearing a seatbelt?"?
So if you truly believe that a better life is waiting for you after this one, why do you take all neccessary precautions to stay alive? Can you honestly say with all your heart, that when you die, you go to a much better place?
Look, i know its law to wear a seatbelt - but the point of the question is, why are people so afraid to die, if upon dying you go to a wonderful place?

The fact that there will be a resurrection on to a restored paradise earth is no reason to carelessly toss away the life we have now. Life is precious and no sane, healthy individual wants to relinquish it. Additionally, Christians have a commission from Jesus Christ to preach the good news of God's kingdom throughout the entire inhabited earth in this most important time. (see Matthew 24:14) The dead can neither preach nor praise the true God, Jehovah.

A comedian as a reference.. That says a lot. But in answer to your question. 1. it is the law 2. God will take me when it is my time and NOT until then. So, I have no reason to be stupid while waiting..

I used to wonder about that when I was a teenager. It's rather an adolescent question.
As I grew older, and even though I'm an atheist, I understood that even the most devout religious people are hedging their bets. There's always at least a tiny niggle of doubt whether people want to admit or not. And presumably, if there were an accident, they might not die, just end up maimed and disabled for whatever life they had left. They'd like to avoid that. Finally, they'd probably like to spend as much time as possible with loved ones before they go to the heavenly reward they expect.
Then there's the fact that in most jurisdictions in the US, wearing a seatbelt is required by law.
Edit: Honey, we got the point of your question; you didn't have to explain it. But wearing a seatbelt doesn't automatically signal that someone is afraid to die. Most of the time, it just signals that he or she would rather not get a ticket for disobeying the seatbelt law.

Valhalla is open to anybody who dies in battle with a weapon in their hands.

Sometimes I ride my motorcycle with my eyes closed.... for the thrill... because I know very well that my time is up only when God says it is.
As far as wearing a seatbelt when in my car, I have to because we are commanded to follow the laws of the land (unless they directly contradict God's laws).
Here... have some woe.
Woe to you who are well fed now,
for you will go hungry.
Woe to you who laugh now,
for you will mourn and weep.
Woe to you when everyone speaks well of you,
for that is how their ancestors treated the false prophets.

So.... mock on, mocker. Mock on.
