Mussolini became Il Duce in 1922. Italy at the time was very weak. The general global prosperity of the 20's was slow to develop in Italy, where many people had a barely sufficient diet well into the 30's. Mussolini would have had to pull a rabbit out of his hat.

Mussolini was a pimple on Hitler's butt - he got in the way and Hitler had to bail him out on a few occasions. Like Japan, Italy didn't contribute much to the European war effort - their only ties with each other was that they had a common enemy.

how would he get there? Italy and Germany have no common border and its a long sail from the Adriatic to the Baltic Sea

Not by himself but if he had joined the Allies he would have been on the winning side and the war wouldn't have lasted as long.

Mussolini ruled Italy as Prime Minister from 1922 to 1943; he constitutionally led the country until 1925, when he dropped the pretense of democracy and established a dictatorship.

"At the end of World War I, the forces of the German Empire were disbanded, the men returning home individually or in small groups. Many of them joined the Freikorps (Free Corps), a collection of volunteer paramilitary units that were involved in suppressing the German Revolution and border clashes between 1918 and 1923.

The Reichswehr was limited to a standing army of 100,000 men,[1] and a navy of 15,000. The establishment of a general staff was prohibited. Heavy weapons such as artillery above the calibre of 105 mm (for naval guns, above 205 mm), armoured vehicles, submarines and capital ships were forbidden, as were aircraft of any kind. Compliance with these restrictions was monitored until 1927 by the Military Inter-Allied Commission of Control."

Thus, if there was a window for Mussolini to defeat Germany it was brief. However, the Nazis came to power after the window so highly unlikely.

No, the Italian army at the time was at best lame. They didn't even pose too much trouble for the allied forces after they aligned with the Nazi's. Likely the allies would not have supported the Italians in the infancy of the Nazi build up as the threat was not realized until Hitler started his land grab.

HI so where do you get such silly ideas from he too was a NAZI. i wonder where some get these strange ideas from. he too was a socialist democrat or dictator.

    Unlikely.

Don't forget that before the Nazis built up their power, few people were regarding them as dangerous. The world would have looked on and seen Italy and Mussolini as the aggressors - the bad actors in that regard. And they would have come down against Italy.
