Most places that sell food or serve food are restricted by law from permitting animals in the business. This is for health reasons.

I don't want your noisy f4cking rugrats around either. They are much more of a distraction than a dog---

Love for the pet over rides common sense. It's up to the establishment to enforce any rules re not allowing animals that are 'just pets' into the building.

EXCELLENT QUESTION! My husband and I went to an expensive restaurant in a casino, everything a la carte, very nice establishment, waiters all over the place. We had a cocktail, were looking over the menu, had probably been there 15 minutes when I looked to my right and was eye-to-eye with a dog sitting in a CHAIR at the table next to us. He wasn't doing anything but sitting there, but there he was!
I'd say he was a Lab but on the smaller side. I love dogs. We have two. They don't come to restaurants, and they don't sit on chairs.
I wondered what was wrong with the owners, but I also wondered what was wrong with the restaurant staff.
The dog did not wear a vest, it was no problem, but I still don't want to sit next to a dog while eating dinner.

I just don't want newfoundlands in those establishments. Newfoundlands be some ugly dogs. Plus their owners are usually insane old ladies.

The management cannot ask if a dog is a Service Dog or not. But as another customer I can & do. Many people try to scam to have a dog to go with them into stores. That is a good way to socialize a dog. I take my ESA with me to Walmart, Lowe's, Home Depot & places like that but not into restaurants. Even took her to Montana in the cabin.
I feel sorry for people who don't have a dog connection. Dogs have always been my passion & my profession. As a retired Dog Professional in many ways, I don't really care about people who don't like dogs, I consider it their problem & not mine & the more I am around people the more I love my dogs.

we dont have that problem here in Germany as esa´s do not exist, Only genuine service dogs are allowed to enter grocery stores or restaurants As for the states and canada it seems. they are everywhere and its incredably wrong for the genuinely disabled that NEED genuine service dogs

Id rather be around a dog than around an unruly child, an ill person, or a person who lacks personal hygiene... But all of these come to grocery stores and restaurants too
