Is valverian root good for sleep?

I got some 500 mg is it good for sleep answers are appreciated

    Valerian.

    I never found it to be effective -- melatonin works best for me -- but some people say it works well for them.

    Most "natural" sleep and anti-anxiety aids don't work very well if at all.

    It may help. It's what valium is derived from.
