Munchausen Syndrome is a mental disorder in which a person with a deep seated need for attention intentionally fakes, simulates, worsens, or self-induces an injury or illness for the main purpose of being treated like a medical patient. It is NOT the same as hypochondria. Munchausen Syndrome is 10 times worse.

Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy is a mental disorder in which the caretaker of a child either makes up fake symptoms or causes real symptoms to make it appear as though the child is injured or ill.

Its just like the Boy that cried wolf - when he was really ill no one believed him

It’s the “Savior Disorder”, where those diagnosed with this create fake dramatic scenarios (most always health related) with those they care for. The caregiver (parent, adult child, sibling, neighbor, etc.) will do what it takes to compromise the person’s health (often by slow unsuspected poisoning of their food or liquids), then come to their rescue by medical intervening (taking them to the ermegency room, for example). Makes them look like they saved the day.

    Oh dear.

Its a disorder which makes you, either conciously or subconciously, acually seek out to make yourself ill or injured in order to gain sympathy and medical support.

Here is also Munchausens By Proxy, in which you harm a person close to you or in your care for the attention and support it provides you.

Munchausen syndrome is a factitious disorder, a mental disorder in which a person repeatedly and deliberately acts as if he or she has a physical or mental illness when he or she is not really sick. Munchausen syndrome is considered a mental illness because it is associated with severe emotional difficulties.

You should talk with a doctor if concerned about your mental health.
