Atheist: If your child came home and asked you to get them a Bible, so they could learn about Jesus. What would you do?

I would thank the Lord for guiding the child in the right direction and help them in any way I could.I would also guide them to listen to a very honest and good teacher in the Bible who also delivers it in a very easy way to understand way.He has been scoffed and ridiculed many many times by people who do not wished to believe in the great creator but has rode through all the tribulations they have thrown at him and got stronger.

Let them explore their own religious or spiritual beliefs. I wouldn't stand in the way of finding themselves just because I believe there is no god. I believe religion is something that should be respected and if they truly want to learn more about a certain religion, I'd completely allow it and support them.

I would absolutely give them one without hesitation. After reading that tragic comedy of failures, they will understand what religion truly is and what it stands for: Delusional Fantasy. Fables, myths, and legends that have no proof or evidence of even being slightly true to any extent. It is dishonest to assert as fact that which is not evidently true. Religion is the most dishonest position anyone can have.

Depending on where located tell them the truth.

Buy them one. There is nothing more guaranteed to affirm the atheistic view than someone reading the bible properly.

..been there, done that... I'd lend them one of my own Bible's, while quietly thinking to myself, "another young atheist in the making."

Id get them one no problem; As I in fact did, and then I let them make their own decisions. I also didnt prevent them in any way when they felt that they wanted to go to churches .. But that only happened twice; and they became dis-alluded of their own accord. Nowadays my Daughter is an atheist Senior Maternity sister. My Son an atheist armed forces member...Who i formerly served with... and both of their own individual choices also....

I would offer them one of the selection of versions from my bookcase. I would then show them the answers to this question posted by Seawulf and Lôn to show them what religion can do to an unintelligent mind.

Tell them it is on the bookshelf, along with a Koran and the Vedas.

It's in the nightstand waiting to be read. There is no better defense against silly notions than having one read those silly notions first hand.
