Go to your nearest Social Security Office and ask.

You call them. They will tell you over the phone.

You should get a letter telling you why.

You seriously have NO idea? You can't think of ANY debts you've had that didn't get paid? Back taxes, state or federal? Unpaid child support?

You ask the Treasury, not the social security people.

If ANY payments you would otherwise be receiving from the Federal government are being garnished, you need to contact the Treasury Offset Program for more information.

Because you owe them money for some reason.

I find it rather odd that the Treasury is garnishing your SS without informing you why. I suggest you check the mail sitting on your kitchen table.

Must be really serious for them to mess with your SS. Call legal aid and ask if they can help you. At least find out what for.
