Elder Scrolls Daggerfall beginner tips?

Asked my friend since he played it. His tip is to save before and after every action, because the random number generator resets after every load. Don't like the loot? Reload and loot again.

I remember him saying something about taking a boost and having to offset it with a 'crippling fear of the undead' and the first thing he ran across was a Skeleton. So... be careful how you set up your character. Also, the guards are psychic and can teleport. Another reason to save often.
