My turn signals aren’t working properly, what could the problem be?

I have a 2003 Pontiac grand am SE1 sometimes my signals work and sometimes they don’t. The left signal works sometimes, but when it doesn’t it makes no clicking noise and the green arrow doesn’t show on the dashboard. When I use the right signal I hear a fast clicking sound but no green arrow shows on the dashboard. I replaced the right front and back bulbs thinking that would help but it didn’t. I took my car to Midas and I explained to them about the signal the guy took a look at it and told me it was the hazard flasher. I made an appointment to have it fixed, when I got to my appointment a different guy at the same shop said it was my turn signal switch. So now I don’t know which one it is. Would someone mind helping me out
