I envy people who have been able to retain childhood friendships into adulthood, how often do childhood friendships last into adulthood?

I'm asking this question because, unfortuneately, i'm no longer friends with anyone from my childhood, the friendships just fizzled out, or we drifted apart, grew apart from each other.

All of my current friends, are people I met after High School.

I guess you could say i'm desperate for validation in the sense that i'm not alone in this situation, in which who else has gone their separate ways with their childhood friends.

Almost everyone drifts apart from the childhood friends, and it's a very sad thing because usually someone is still the same all through life, and still could be a friend. However, circumstances, family, marriage, tragedies, relocating to other cities, all take their toll.
