Are there any species of animals in which the female initiates courtship or pursues the male?
Just wondering if role reversals ever occur in the animal kingdom, the female makes the first move or pursues the male, courts the male, etc.
5 AnswersZoology3 weeks agoWhich country deserves the credit for the invention, development of the Jet Engine? Germany or the U.K.? or a different country?
Because i think Hans Van Ohain, who invented it for this plane called the Heinkel He 178, was of German origin. However for the U.K., i often hear Frank Whittle was the inventor of the first Jet Engine.
Who or what country, nation, deserves the most credit for the invention, development of the Jet Engine?
15 AnswersAircraft4 months agoDid they ever do research, investigation, independent recount to find out if Gore truly won the state of Florida in the 2000 election?
yes i know it has been 20 years now, whats done is done, get over it, but there is no doubt, no denying that the legacy, outcome of the 2000 election between Bush and Gore will forever be controversial.
Many people feel that Gore got cheated in that election, it was stolen from him, the Supreme Court basically handed the presidency to Bush Jr., since the Supreme Court ordered that the recount come to a stop in Florida.?
In the years since, have they done private recounts in Florida to see if Gore truly won?
Also, was the only reason why the Supreme Court intervened, is because they were Pro-Bush right from the start right? they wanted Bush to win at all costs?

11 AnswersHistory6 months agoHow often in World Series history, has the Game 1 winning, gone on to win the whole thing? ?
I'm hoping the Rays can make a comeback but i don't see it happening, they are playing atrocious tonight, the Dodgers are basically putting the Rays pitching to batting practice. Thought it was going to be closer.
2 AnswersBaseball6 months agoDo the Tampa Bay Rays stand any chance against the L.A. Dodgers? How games do you see the 2020 World Series reaching?
I'm hoping that the Rays can upset the Dodgers, but my gut feeling tells me this year is finally the Dodgers year, their 3rd trip to the World Series in the last 4 years, i have a strong feeling the outcome, result, is gonna be different for the Dodgers this time.
What do you think?
7 AnswersBaseball6 months agoIs this a good way to describe former Raiders owner Al Davis? he would rather lose his way than win someone elses way?
That was a major reason, why the Raiders became a disaster in his last decade he was the boss of the Raiders, and why he dealt Jon Gruden away after the Tuck Rule game. It still feels like the Raiders haven't recovered from the mess he made, even though he died almost a decade ago.
I read this somewhere:
"Al’s biggest mistake was running Jon Gruden out of the organization and failing to groom a talented young football mind to succeed him. It could have been Gruden and I think Jon wanted it to be him but Al’s ego wouldn’t let it happen.
At the end, Al wound rather lose his way than win someone else’s way."
7 AnswersFootball (American)7 months agoWas "Fast Five" the turning point in the Fast and Furious series, franchise? was it the film that brought in new fans?
Also, was it the film that made the series, franchise, last this long, extend this far? Because obviously, the reason why they continue to keep making sequels is due to the films being a box-office success.
Was Fast Five the film that sent the message to Universal and the cast to keep making more sequels due to all of the money and profits being made?
i read this quote on a forum, here it is:
"It was definitely Fast Five.
The original plan when Vin Diesel came back, was a proper trilogy with his character Dom that never came to be the first time.
When Fast Five exploded at the box-office, Universal and the cast just decided to keep rocking it, rollin' it, until the wheels fall off."
Does that quote sound accurate, valid?
Movies8 months agoIs it true that some species of Giant Tortoises, can live over 200 years? can live much longer than the oldest known humans?
Jeanne Calment, a french woman, is the oldest human to have ever lived in human recorded history, 122 years. How much longer can some species of Giant Tortoises live compared to the oldest known humans?
I do understand it is difficult to determine for those Tortoises, because they often times outlive their human observers.
I assume there are plenty of other animal species that can live very long lives, that can make the oldest known humans, look like spring chickens in comparison right?
1 AnswerBiology8 months agois it true that sometimes, the egg moves towards the sperm, or just the egg makes more effort than we think, is not as passive as we think?
just asking, because it's based on new research articles that have been published lately, they say that the egg chooses the sperm, the sperm does not choose the egg, or that the egg does make some movement towards the sperm, I just wanted to make sure.
2 AnswersPregnancy9 months agoPrivate schools/parochial schools, can accept students from anywhere regardless of where they live, that's not the case for public schools?
is that one of the main key differences between private/parochial schools, compared to public schools?
Private schools, or Parochial schools, can accept students from an unlimited geographical radius, public schools can only accept students from a certain geography, have residential enrollment boundaries, there are no boundary lines for private/parochial schools.
Is that one of the main reasons, why private/parochial schools, are often times, more successful in sports than public schools are, attract more talented athletes and win more championships?
5 AnswersPrimary & Secondary Education9 months agoWhat does open enrollment mean for a public school or a school district? I hear it often for high schools?
Does open enrollment for public school, a high school in this situation, does it mean that specific high school, is able to accept students from anywhere regardless of where that student lives, as in, it can work or be like a private school, parochial school.
Since for the most part, public schools are limited to boundary lines, there are no boundary lines for private schools or parochial schools, or just no residential enrollment boundaries or attendance boundaries.
Which on the way it looks like, in most cases when comparing a public school and private school, private schools can accept students from a much bigger, or just unlimited geographical radius, meanwhile public schools, require that the students live within a certain distance from the campus before letting them in, require that they live in the area, or get an interdistrict transfer, which is normally a difficult process.
So overall, explain to me what open enrollment means for a public school.
1 AnswerPrimary & Secondary Education11 months agoWhy do a lot of people, refuse to be honest and upfront with someone as to why they refuse to reconnect with them or talk to them again?
as in, they choose to be non-confrontive about it, they refuse to tell the person straight to their face, as to why they want nothing to do with them again or refuse to reconnect, talk to them again, instead, they just ignore the person. Their communication is absolute zero with the person who is attempting to reconnect or talk to that person again.
I went through this situation last year, it does cause me to have feelings of anger and resentment towards my former friend.
3 AnswersFriends1 year agoWhy did the Raiders draft Jamarcus Russell? why did Al Davis think he was going to be a star, their franchise QB?
just bringing this up because, Jamarcus Russell is the reason why the rookie contract scale exists, he was overpaid there, he got paid a lot for being lazy.
That contract hurt the team, franchise for a bit. His rookie deal was 61 million. Average of 10 mil a year. And the salary cap was only like 100 mil. To put that into perspective Ben, Eli, Brady, Brees, McNair and Culpepper were all making less than him.
I believe even Matt Millen advised Al Davis to not draft him, even Lane Kiffin was against drafting him.
12 AnswersFootball (American)1 year agoI envy people who have been able to retain childhood friendships into adulthood, how often do childhood friendships last into adulthood?
I'm asking this question because, unfortuneately, i'm no longer friends with anyone from my childhood, the friendships just fizzled out, or we drifted apart, grew apart from each other.
All of my current friends, are people I met after High School.
I guess you could say i'm desperate for validation in the sense that i'm not alone in this situation, in which who else has gone their separate ways with their childhood friends.
1 AnswerFriends1 year agoWhat does it mean to end something on a good note, on a high note?
In this regard, what does it mean if somebody is having a conversation or discussion with somebody, and one of the members of the people involved in the discussion, conversation, says let's try to end this on a good note, let's try to end on a high note here.
5 AnswersEtiquette1 year agowould you say this season is gonna be another losing season for the Raiders as usual? they've had only 1 winning season for almost 2 decades?
the Raiders have had only 1 winning season since that Super Bowl massacre against the Buccaneers in the 2002 season, which they did in 2016, but then it was back to their losing ways.
Raider fans have definetley gotten used to losing for too long already, you would think with the death of Al Davis, things would change, but nope, they haven't.
4 AnswersFootball (American)2 years agoHow often do childhood friendships last into adulthood? do a lot of them not last into adulthood?
i'm asking this question, because i'm desperate for validation in the sense that i'm not alone in this situation, who else can relate to this?
Sadly, i'm no longer in touch with any of my childhood friends, the friendships fizzled out due to attending different schools, growing apart or drifting apart from each other.
7 AnswersFriends2 years agoWhat are common reasons why an old friend doesn't want to reconnect with you, speak to you again? someone you lost touch with, etc.?
I know it happens a lot for people, in which friendships drift apart, grow apart from each other with age, the friendship fizzles out, they lose touch.
Let's say one of these people, attempts to reach out to one of their old friends they haven't spoken to in many years, but yet their old friend refuses to speak to them, doesn't want to reconnect with that person.
What are common reasons why someone doesn't want to reconnect with an old friend? is it normally because they now hold a grudge towards that person or have something against them?
