Currently it is estimated that there are 40 million plus slaves in the world. The top ten slave holding countries are India with 18,354,700 Slaves followed by China with 3,388,400 Slaves 3. Pakistan — 2,134,900 Slaves 4. Bangladesh — 1,531,300
5. Uzbekistan — 1,236,600 Slaves 6. North Korea — 1,100,000 Slaves
7. Russia — 1,048,500 Slaves 8. Nigeria — 875,500 Slaves 9. Democratic Republic of Congo — 873,100 Slaves 10. Indonesia — 736,100 Slaves.
During the Trans Atlantic slave trade the majority (about 40%) of the African slaves went to Brazil. Followed by the British West Indies with 18.4%, the Spanish Empire at 17.5%, then the French Americas at 13.6% and then British Atlantic Colonies / United States with 9.7% of the total.
