What to do with my life....?

Question

Hi, I m 24, I don t have a job, I have a degree in biology but there isn t anything i can do with; all jobs here want either years of experience or spanish speaking capabilities which i do not have. (Im in LA). I live at home with my mom because I can t possibly afford my own place in la especially without a decent job. And even if I could, in my culture we tend to live with our family as a default until there is a reason to move out. My mom is encouraging me to go back to school in a different field of study but to me it just kind of seems like a waste because i would need so much loans for the education and of course because it means more years of school. I don t really talk to my friends anymore, we all just kind of spread out and are doing our own things (nothing in my case). I have a boyfriend but we are long distance, idk I just feel lonely, especially now since the holidays are coming up, My mom is going on a trip with her sisters and my brother will be hanging out with our male relatives, and I will be alone. Yes,i know... it sounds sad. worst part is it didn t even bother me until recently. I just feel so bored and tired of life and it feels like my life is put on pause even though the time is still going by. Does anyone ever feel this way? and how do you deal with it if you do? I quit my full-time job to go back to school, but school is only part time and nobody wants to give me a part time job with my schedule. So I m home doing nothing a lot, i feel so bored.

If you have some belief that you can never leave your parents' home you probably won't have much success. Your city (which is also mine) is glutted with people like yourself so you may need to being willing to leave L.A. to get ahead. Maybe look for jobs where your boyfriend lives or consider some other place entirely. You're only stuck in L.A. because you refuse to look beyond your own front door.

Do you have family members living in another state than LA?
Many other states living expenses I'm sure are much less than places like LA, NEW YORK,  EAST COAST...…..so why not check into all your needs on line and see if you could make a good life elsewhere?  Good luck

sounds pretty typical of a recent college graduate, actually.  you have knowledge, but no experinece.  every job wants you to have experience.  that's the way it's ALWAYS been, kid!  you're nothing special!

Find a way to get a job, any job.  Once you have a good job reference, then you can go for job interviews in your chosen field.  if you have to go for your masters to get a better job, then do it.  But the earlier you do it the better.  Don't complain and be depressed until you're 35, then decide you have to go for your masters.  do it now.

Sometimes trying to follow too many rules at one time can only lead to failure.  Put another way, trying to accomplish too many contradictory goals at the same time can lead to failure.  You need to look at your priorities and decide what you are willing to sacrifice and what you are not willing to sacrifice.  It may be time to move.

Find something that you like to do.  Take classes in cooking, art, blacksmithing, etc.  Someone is always teaching a class about almost everything, especially in LA.  I have an computer science degree that I don't use because I discovered that I like to write while I was in college.  I had a lot of years where I felt like you do, but the key is to find your passion and focus all your energy on it.  It doesn't have to be one thing.  I like to draw pinup art when I need a break from writing, and I go back to writing when I need a break from art.  Make a youtube channel and document your journey.
