Atheists what are your thoughts on why there is evil in the world? ?

There is no such thing as evil, its a religious concept used to keep the ignorant in line.

Some people don't grow up with a loving family and never learn how to treat others well. There's no cosmic bad guy making good people do horrible things.

I was reading about everyday life and family life through the English Middle Ages and noted that when society shifted from ignoring children and treating them like unwanted pests to caring about them and raising them to care about others, crime rates went way, way down. At one time murdering the person you had an argument with was way too common. Once people in general started caring for their children that behavior mostly stopped. There are still psychopaths who seem to have some kind of brain dysfunction that prevents them from caring about others, but again, that's physiological, not due to a cosmic bad guy pushing people around.

Name an evil....any evil. You will find religion at the bottom of it all. The Mafia is religious. When people think that they are not bound by ethics, and that God will forgive any sin, they become evil. Thus, the religious are often evil. They don't understand their own religion and tell lies about others to bolster their own status.

"Evil"  is a metaphysical term implying a bad spirit or entity beyond man's control.

Something could be "evil" in one culture and not in another. It's all Man-made!

Just like the various Gods around the world.

Atheism is for mature adults.... 

The concepts of good and evil are tied to religion. There are people that follow an ethical or moral path and some that do not. There are other "evils" that are simply natural events that may have negative outcomes, but they are not "evil," natural disasters, disease or suffering. 

Much of the bad actors in the world, whether terrorists, bigots, etc justify their actions by appealing to religion. 

Human nature runs the gamut from very altruistic to very selfish.

And sometimes overly sensitive people call everyone else "evil"

even if they are not "evil".

Ever got called "troll" by over sensitive people online? Most people have. It's like that.

Evil is defined as Separation from Oneness. 

Anytime a planet sinks too low in 3D density, 

they lose sight of Oneness with God. 

The lower, three chakras in our anatomy allow 

the human-body to function outside of Oneness. 

The upper-four (the heart, throat, third-eye 

and crown) allow us to re-align with Oneness.
