What can I do about my apartment complex not taking rat problem serious?
We just moved into our apartment in September, almost a month a ago we saw the biggest rat of our lives. We saw that it came from behind the dishwasher theres a hole in the wall. We told maintenance about it and they emailed us saying they fixed the hole, we didn't see the rat again so we assumed it was fixed. Fast forward to now. 2 days straight we've seen huge rats again, when we checked that VERY same hole is still there! they never fixed it, its been 2 days now that we've contacted them yet again and still no one has came by. My boyfriend even cut his hand last night trying to catch one of the rats. Also, we requested exterminators more than a month ago and they never sent anyone What should we do?

This should be posted in a different section since it is not about pets, it is about renters' rights. Try the Renting section under Business & Finance.

Don't pay your rent until the hole is fixed. Also, retain a lawyer in case your landlord tries to take you to court. Be aware: these giant rats could be coming from the sewer. You may have a hole in the pipes. If maintenance doesn't even want to fix a gaping hole in the wall, they are not going to want to be bothered with fixing a more complicated sewer pipe. It may be better to consider moving.

In form the health department they will take action against the housing apt

Report them to the local housing authority/board of health. Part of a landlord's responsibility is keeping the rental property safe for tenants which includes keeping it vermin tree.
Take pictures, take videos, print out all the emails as evidence and REPORT THEM.
