What is being a pallbearer like ?

Im gonna be a pallbearer in 2 days for my grandpa and I haven’t been to a funeral before I’m 16. I’m just wondering how that works and how long they usually have to lift the coffin for. I have no idea what to expect..

first sorry I know it hurts

being a pallbearer is simple 6-8 people pickup the coffin and carry it, it is not very heavy,

sometime you have to do it 2-3 times like, from the church/funeral home to the hearse - then to the grave site, after you put the coffin down at the grave site you should be done and return to your family

the funeral director should be telling you what to do and how

Your job will be to carry the coffin both into and out of the visitation ceremony, as well as in and out of the funeral as well.

What to expect? You and several others will be carrying the casket, usually a person at one end, a person in the middle and one at the front. How long? Not very, I mean I would say maybe 5 or so minutes each time from the car to the churct/vise versa on both days.
