I'd like the advice of a nutritionist. I want to eat as few types of food as possible, and still get proper nutrition. ?
I want to eat two or three meals (or perhaps four or five snacks) daily: each meal being of only a single type of food. By "single type" I mean, not something like a casserole or a pizza; I mean more like just mushrooms, just cheese, just bread, etc. I know bread has several ingredients, but stuff with just a few ingredients, like bread, would be okay. I'm thinking of something like a banana for breakfast, cottage cheese for lunch, and cashews for dinner one day, eggs for breakfast, broccoli for lunch, and bread for dinner the next day, etc. I might be okay with a vegan, or some similar, diet, but I don't require it. I'd like it to be as inexpensive as possible, and I'd like it to require as little preparation as possible. I'd rather get all my nutrients from the food, but I'm willing to take a supplement or two. Deliciousness is not a requirement.

In order to properly digest and metabolize nutrients they need to be consumed in combination. Each meal (or snack) should have a reasonable ratio of proteins, fats and carbohydrates. This is easily accomplished if each meal includes a vegetable, grain, fruit, high protein source and dairy.

I am a nutritionist and you are asking for the impossible. The best way to get proper nutrition is to eat a wide variety of foods, mostly fruits and vegetables. Cut back on dairy products, processed foods (especially!), and red meat. Make yourself a smoothie for breakfast. Have a Greek salad for lunch, and a sensible dinner. A banana, cottage cheese, and cashews won't do it. For starters, you are missing out on fiber, not to mention all the goodness in leafy greens.
