How to stop a period?

I've always had really long periods, when I was in high school I went to a doctor because I had been on my period for 7 months straight just constantly bleeding. They put me on birth control (depo shot) but I gained too much weight on it so they put the bar method in my arm. This hasn't been working very well and I've been on my period for about 2 months and it's getting really heavy but I lost my health insurance and don't have a steady paycheck because of covid so I can't go to a doctor. Are there any ways to get otc birth control pills to balance this out or any other methods of stopping or slowing a period?
