Is 14carat solid gold necklace to much of a low percentage of gold or is it okay?

I don’t know if it’s better to get a 14carat or 18carat gold necklace? I want one that I can wear daily and be able wear when I’m sleeping?

Solid gold is 24 karat, so 12K is only 50% gold & the rest is base metal. 14K is the minimum for jewelry to have any gold value, although fairly minimal. 18K is 75% gold and therefore softer, but has more gold-value than 14K. 22K is the highest you will find in jewelry, and has the most gold-value for jewelry.

Gold is soft and weak.  Lower percentage of gold means the alloy is going to be stronger and hold up to daily wear much more.  14 carat is stronger and will last longer than 18 carat.
