What is it about COVID-19 that is affecting domestic deliveries so dramatically?

Are carriers short on manpower due to untimely deaths of employees or are they simply taking more breathers?

    They have to do distancing too, people get sick and everyone is ordering more stuff on line so business has increased.

    NO on BOTH counts. What has changed is more people ordering items for delivery instead of shopping in stores.

    The supply chain is broken.  Factories are closed or operated on diminishing capacity.  Online ordering is experiencing much greater demand, and again, shipping facilities are operating with reduced capacity.

    With all of the lock downs and people not able to go to some shops the only alternative is to shop online and have the product delivered.

    Such a large increase coupled with people ordering things like mask that are hard to get is it any wonder shipments are delayed.

    The more people including delivery people that are effected by COVID-19 stay at home restrictions, do the math!
