Getting admitted to hospital?

If you're admitted to hospital are you entitled to refuse to see certain visitors?

Also if your family try to tell you you're wrong to refuse particular visitors does that say more about them than it does about you?

    Depends on the hospital.

Duty nurses are not there to act as security guards.

In a shared ward in a public hospital, no-one is likely to stop anyone following normal hospital visiting rules.

In a private room or a private hospital, things are a little more regulated.

If your condition warrants it, often a limit on number of visitors at a time or "immediate family only" rule is imposed.

If there is police involvement or you are a victim of crime, you may have a police guard.

It's a hospital not a zoo so people just can't come in and observe you like your some damn animal.
