what takes it to declared incompetent if youre a disabled person?

if youre disabled, but you can give yourself a bath, pay bills, clean the house, do laundry, go to your doctor, take your medicine, keep receipts, does that make you incompetent to have a guardian and to be put in a home. to me it doesnt make someone bad off to be put in a home, but this is kentucky where i dont know what their situation is. i thought disabled person has much rights as a normal person to live their life, no stupid answers please.

Well, first off, if someone is disabled, it doesn't mean they are incompetent or "bad"..... The person you describe sounds very self-sufficient.

A disabled person has as much right to go about their lives and manage their own life as anyone else.  There is just something going on with them physically (and sometimes mentally) which sets them apart from the crowd.

I'm considered "disabled" because i was in an accident. I'm still competent, but for a long time, i needed a little extra help. With efford and a lot of work, i have recovered.  I still have some physical problems, but they aren't anything which a doctor can't help me with (and physical therapy).  It took me a matter of years to recover, though.

Mentally incompetent people need the most help, but do you know that some people who are considered retarded can actually function and live on their own?  Many have a social worker who helps them when needed, but lots of these people do the absolute best they can, and they can be amazing!

    take care

Why would you be put in a home. Disabled people can live on their own, blind, in wheelchairs, one arm, one leg, and in the U.K. with Downs Syndrome.
