Considering where I'm from, I should be voting for the Hobbits but I'm afraid I do prefer the Harry Potter movies, I just think they have far more re-watch value and have dated a lot better.

I only really enjoyed 'Fellowship Of The Ring' I just think Peter Jackson got so much wrong with the other two movies especially changing the ending and Gollum was done so badly, nothing like the book.

    Lord of the Rings.

My problem with Harry Potter, is that it's really not much more than a grand collection of every  boy wizard cliche, ever written, all complied in one book.

or 8 books, or whatever.  I didn't really find any part of it terribly original,   with the possible exception of inventing the game Quidditch.

In fact, the book was originally turned DOWN, by NUMEROUS Publishers, before one gave her a shot..........and yeah, well..........

what can you say......can't argue with success....... and those first publishers must have all run out and HUNG themselves.......but they weren't necessarily wrong about the quality of the writing or the book.

and the fact is, it caught on with so many CHILDREN......wellllllllll,   great literature it wasn't.

Hell,  50 Shades of Grey, sold millions of copies.......so there's a lot to be said for writing for the lowest common denominator.

LOTR, it is on such a grand scale and it keeps a more consistent tone.
