I have some testosterone gel in a can but it's out of date. Can I use it? If not why not?

I'd consider how far out of date and whether and how long the container has been opened. Personally, I consider most expiration dates to be a cheap marketing scam. I stay pretty close (a couple of months) on liquid meds that have been opened. If something is supposed to be kept refrigerated, I don't go very long past exp IF it's been opened, but a couple of months if it's NOT been opened.

My endocrinologist (diabetes) disagrees with me, (and I stick very close on liquids and refrigerated things. )
