Should I use lag bolts or wood screws?

I'm redoing my house due to many issues including plumbing. When I took out the ceiling below the upstairs bathroom I discovered they took out massive chunks of the floor joists so I need to reinforce them. I'm going to drop the ceiling a little so I can run plumbing correctly. Should I use lag bolts to secure the reinforcement beams to the old ones or can I use deck screws?

Lags all day every day and twice on sunday.  also add some liquid nail.  Once that stuff dries you basically have one piece of wood there.

I would use liquid nails and construction screws. A couple of years ago I had to rip out a 12 x 12 section of my house and replace after termites were found.  I used nothing but construction screws. I did this on the advice of my neighbor who works in construction.

Either will work but I would also use some Liquid Nails as well as insurance. You can use fewer lag bolts than screws
