Why are present day Republicans wanting to protect the "racist" history/heritage of the original slave-owning Democrats?

Racist or not it is History. That it shows how Janus the Democrats are is beside the point.

All history prior to 1963 should be erased anyway.

Let the USA start fresh.

Neo-Confederates are backwards people. They wave battle flags around and have no clue what a real Confederate flag looks like. That said, Condi Rice doesn't want the statues torn down because she's afraid people will repeat the mistakes of the past, that this is an attempt to cover up history, in order to use the same ploys again. I believe we need to protect our history for that same reason, but a statue is not a story, it's not a substitute for a history lesson. It's idolatry and all statues should be destroyed.

Tell me who won the Civil War and why are slow-flakes and protesters triggered over the statues of the the losers? They LOST. Or didn't you learn that in history?
