Opioid withdrawal mitigation?

If someone has an opioid habit, say, tramadol, would they still suffer withdrawals from the tramadol if they were taken off of tramadol and put on another opioid like morphine?

As long as you are switching to a comparable or higher dose you won't experience withdrawal symptoms. Opioid conversion tables aren't exact so it can take some small adjustments to exactly match the dose when switching medications. I was on high dose opioids for over a decade but I've only taken a modest amount for the last 2-3 years.
