What to put on resume for furlough?

I was furloughed in April due to Covid-19. I was unsure if I should put the end date of April 2020 on my resume or keep it "present" because I'm still technically employed? Because I am, I'm just not working. I'm still on my company benefits, etc. They just took a pretty big hit. But I don't want to mislead hiring managers. What's the standard protocol for this?

imo furlough date in April because your brain and skills cool off a bit when not working. Employers will need to accept that COVID furloughs and layoffs are now part of life.

  • If it comes up in an interview tell them you were furloughed, but you're willing to quit if they offer you a job.

You should put the date you started to 'present' because you're still employed. Furloughed means you're still on their books, you're still employed you're just not at the business working. I'm sure potential employers would understand with covid 19 going on, with many businesses have had to temporally or permanently close for the safety of their staff and customers / clients.

The idea of furlough is so that the employer can afford to keep you on the books, while you are on the books you work there. So just put that you are still employed there because you are.

Furlough means that you still work there.  There's nothing misleading about listing such a place as present employment.
