Too late now, if you want to use the original characters. Bruno Kirby is no longer with us. Billy Crystal is over 70, and Daniel Stern is over 60.

That's YOUR opinion. Evidently the makers of the first two movies, the producers, etc, did not feel the same way. It costs a huge amount of money to make any movie so they have to be very sure that it would sell very well. They also have to get at least most of the original cast to agree to be involved.
