Why do any men bother getting married at all anymore?

I was born around the same time that the modern feminist movement started waging war on marriage.  All my life I have known somehow that feminism is responsible for the fact that it's almost impossible to have a good marriage...or even a good long-term relationship.  Women don't know how to be women anymore.  That is the problem.  Men who act like women are not marriage material.  But Men who act like men clash with women, who all act like men now.

For many years, if someone asked me what was wrong with dating or marriage or why the divorce rate was so high...I would confidently answer "feminism".  But I was wrong.  Or at least, I was not entirely correct.  My one-word answer was too simplified.

The real problem is that women alive today were all raised in society that is greatly influenced by feminists.  Consequently, we live in a society where ALL women are feminist, and a good percentage of them actually KNOW that.

Women really don't know how to be women anymore.  Maybe their great-great-great grandmothers were the last generation worth marrying.  Now, there's nothing but feminists proud to be feminists...and other pseudo-feminists who are just clueless.

Why should men bother even trying anymore?

There is a small number of women that still know how to be women, but you're right that most women are far too similar to men now. Women might think doing all the things men do and acting like men is great, but it's not terribly attractive. lol

Though for me anyway the reason for not get married is because I don't get anything out of it. I would get a lot of increased risks from being married, but I wouldn't gain anything. All the advantages men had from marriages were removed by feminists several decades ago making the institution pointless for men.

Most men get married because a woman insisted on it. Marriage is an outdated institution, that has no place in the 21st century. No matter how much "lipstick" you put  on it, it's still the celebration of a man taking possession of a woman, for breeding purposes. There are a lot of arrangements that offer more advantages and have fewer pitfalls. You mentioned the NOW organization. I worked with them for passage and ratification of the ERA.  I got laid a lot!!! A bunch of horny broads!!!!

Fundamentally, marriage is for the allocation of resources. Marriage gets even more ridiculous now that women can make their own living.

Wow....you do realize that your perception isn't reality, right?

The real problem is when people, regardless of gender, are not allowed to be who they are, rather they are expected to live up to artificially constructed societal/cultural/parental expectations.....and as a result, there is a lot of unnecessary suffering.

I was born in 1960, never heard that quote before, couldn't give a s**t what others say.  I can guarantee you most women, especially those younger, haven't and don't either.

Billions of men and women in the world, as varied from each other, including within gender,as can be.  If this is hard for you to fathom, then maybe you should start pointing fingers at yourself rather than having this f'd up idea of how women should be to satisfy your ideals.
