so is anyone else having trouble getting in job interviews currently?

I realise that we are in the midst of a pandemic, but given that recruiters are still recruiting apparently, I’ve applied for a number of roles, both in the charity sector and also in local government. I’ve also applied for private sector roles. Usually, when I apply I get one or two interviews. In this case I hear nothing from months and then eventually I am told I was not shortlisted. I understand that this is life and things happen, but I’m just wondering if this is a common experience currently, or is it just me?

There is a lot more competition these days with so many people out of work.  Figure out how to give yourself that edge when applying to get your resume looked at closer.  Use LinkedIn.  Network.  You'd be surprised which one of your friends/ex-workers is willing to help out.

At present, this is the norm. It's not you, it's the situation!
