Why should I care that "abortion is murder?"?

Christians love to say "abortion is murder" like it actually means something. They are obviously wrong as intelligent people know. But even if they are right, why should I care?

Jesus never spoke about this issue. Not in any of the Gospels. The Bible counts life starting as first breath. Breathing holds the souls, according to ancient beliefs. This is reflected in Bible verses.

What lowers abortion rates are allowing ready access to abortion. To cheap or free birth control. To realistic sex ed that doesn't push abstinence-only as the only way to view sex and sexuality. To working on getting people better wages. Ending legal abortion just ends legal abortion. It will not, has never ended abortion. That's reality. It creates a war on poor women. Rich women can and do get all the abortions they want, always have. They have access to the means to do so. Rich women will not be bleeding to death in their own bathrooms if abortion rights get tossed out. Same as it ever was.

You should care that women are being denied the right to decide what happens in their own bodies or to their lives. Everyone should care about that. It says that women are not full citizens. That they are incapable of governing themselves. You should care because women are human beings. That alone should make you care.

It is important to keep what Gods point of view is on the matter. For example, notice what is mentioned at Exodus 21:22,23 :

"If men should struggle with each other and they hurt a pregnant woman and she gives birth prematurely but no fatality results, the offender must pay the damages imposed on him by the husband of the woman; and he must pay it through the judges. But if a fatality does occur, then you must give life for life".

Although this specific law was created many years ago and may no longer be in effect, the principle has remained the same and has not changed. Thus it reminds us that God has and will always have a high value for human life; it also reflects His disapproval for anything that shows disregard for human life.

Read the Prophet Amos...he said most are damned for just not getting the answer, not caring. If you are over 21 you are sinfully lazy to have no answer for this yet

The important thing is not just how men may view matters but what God, the Giver of life, says. To Jehovah God the life of the unborn child is precious, not to be trifled with. He gave a law to ancient Israel specifically protecting the life of the unborn child. If, in a struggle between two men, a pregnant woman was injured or a miscarriage resulted, this law set forth strict penalties. (Exodus 21:22, 23) Manifestly the deliberate taking of the life of an unborn child would be even more serious. According to God’s law, whenever human life was taken deliberately, the guilty one was sentenced to death as a murderer. (Numbers 35:30, 31) God maintains the same high regard for life now.

7 Deep respect for God’s will regarding the life of the unborn child works to real benefit. By his making parents fully responsible for the life of the unborn, he provides a curb to sexual promiscuity with all its bad effects—venereal disease, unwanted pregnancies, illegitimate children, broken families and the mental strain of an unclean conscience. This can contribute to family peace now and is an important factor in our gaining future blessings.

How is it "wrong" to say that the brutal slaughter of a human being because of his/her age is not murder, while the slaughter of a human being of any other age is murder? That is totally irrational.  That's like saying that the killing of a one year old is ok, but the killing of a two year old is murder.

Many humans are compssionate towards the plight of others. This developing person becomes a human at some point and to kill it is to kill a human life or one that would have been. Put yourself in the same situation. It is pretty cold and selfish to only care about others if it affects you.

You have to wonder when anti-abortion "pro-life" people are generally against human services for mother and child, against adoptions by gay people, for death penalty, avid 2nd Amendment rights to own guns that kill people, and for a strong military to kill people.

Can you say the word "hypocrites"?

    Some have bombed abortion clinics.
