Why does Yahoo Answers allow you to answer your own questions?

Good question. But at least they don't let people award themselves favorite answer (unless people use a sock account to answer.)

So the next person who has the same question can find the answer in seconds, rather than post it again and wait for days.

 You don't get to dictate how other people respond to your question. If LAN or anyone else doesn't like your question, they have more than the two options you laid down: they also have the option of reporting it.

LOL!   I love it when you idiots that think that the rules shouldn't apply to you can't figure out that what you think constitutes a chat violation doesn't matter.   This question is a chat violation.   Especially since you added that bit directly to me at the end moron.

BTW   You are also free to ignore me or leave this site.  At least you consistently can't apply the same rules to you that you want others to follow.

That feature was added so the OP could add the correct answer to a question, if they found it and no other respondents had done so. The original goal of the site was to be a database of knowledge/experience for anyone to be able to access. The more questions with correct/useful answers, the more helpful the database would be as a whole.

Unfortunately, some OPs use the answer area to add additional info to their question or to post to other users, and that's not what the ability was supposed to be used for (and updates to questions often get overlooked if they are posted amongst the answers). 

To make it Easier for Mobile Devices 

In case you find the answer to your question and be like- okay, guys, I got it, and answer is...

Maybe so that you can make comments, now that an asker cannot comment directly to someone's answer.

Yea im not sure why they let you. Doesn't make sense to answer your own
