Supply and demand.
The fashion industry quite simply tests the water of what is considered acceptable and what is not, and sells the consumers what they demand.
What decides what is acceptable, and what is not, is a mystery.
What is not acceptable today, may be considered acceptable by general consensus tomorrow.
It is simply a case of continuing to push the boundaries, without over stepping the mark.
