Can a pinball actually break the glass?

There are many times playing different pinball games that I hear that smack. The ball flying into the playfield glass. Can this ever actually break the glass?

Update:

I must be doing something wrong. Every time I go to an arcade it happens at least twice on me.

Possible, but HIGHLY IMPROBABLE for it to happen, mostly because it's rare for the pinball to actually strike the playfield glass & even more rare for the pinball to inflict visible damage to said glass.

The playfield glass would have to be in very poor condition (likely with cracks in the glass) for it to potentially break it.

Maybe, if you keep tilting the pinball machine.
