Didn’t yahoo answers used to have a “reply to answer” function?

I could have sworn there was one. I can’t find it anymore. I’m not crazy, right? And if it was there, why did they remove it?

It's disabled. They are ignoring our requests to reinstate it.

It is possible to comment using the 'Edit/Update question' button but it's cumbersome.

They did but have disabled the option.

If you are referring to the comments section.........yes, it's been removed because idiots just HAD to abuse it.

This is why we can't have nice things here.

Verizon has disabled commenting on July 23 due to safety and security concerns. That means you can't be able to comment on answers at this time. Inappropriate and offensive postings have started to cause a lot of problems before the temporary ending of comments.

YA has NEVER had a "Reply to answer" function since November 8, 2008. There was a "Comment" function on YA starting in late 2018 or early 2019. You are propagating provoking and inflaming, misinformation deliberately to exploit, psychologically manipulate and sow chaos in the YA community.

YA may have had something like that in the very beginning in 2006 with the original group of invited beta testers. Some of those accounts are still active today, although Some of them participate very sporadically in the last 3 and a half years sice Verizon took over Yahoo headquarters in June 2017.

YA is SUPPOSED to have a STRICT question answer format. YA is NOT a discussion or debate forum or an advice column. At one time you COULD email or IM  other YA community members through YA or message them through Yahoo Messenger. Maybe THAT is what you are remembering. Yahoo terminated IM in 2013. Verizon terminated personal emails starting some time in 2018, probably because there were too many emails with death and rapper threats and threats of violence on friends, children, grand children and great grandchildren. My personal email is STILL enabled and I do allow followers. Many people no longer allow followers. Too many of us have been stalked,  harassed abd viciously defamed and discredited.

Verizon Media, NOT YAHOO, removed or disabled, blocked,  commenting on YA at 12:30 am EDT on July 23, 2020 for security and safety reasons. Many of us assumed this would be temporary like it was in 2O12 and 2016. Verizon Media NEVER said it would be temporary, but they did ask for feedback from the entire Yahoo community.

Yahoo Groups were limited some time in August or September, became inaccessible on October 15 and totally inaccessible on December 15.

    No, it never did.

What it DID have is an option to post *comments* on answers.

Some months ago it was disabled temporarily because of "reasons".

Lots of people want it back

Commenting has been removed. They say it is temporary, but it sounds like changes may be coming based on what kind of user feedback they get. Yahoo's announcement on this can be found at the bottom of every article posted:

Our goal is to create a safe and engaging place for users to connect over interests and passions. In order to improve our community experience, we are temporarily suspending article commenting. In the meantime, we welcome your feedback to help us enhance the experience.

Yes they did. They said it was temporary, but it seems like forever.

It’s gone. Apparently people got offended.
