If you could change the spelling of one word in the English language, what would it be?

Let’s say that your intention is to make English an easier language to learn and read. What is your change?

    probably colonel would be my choice - it sounds like 'kernel' but look at that spelling.

    Second choice would be choir (kwyer) - same reason

    and what difference would just ONE word make anyway?

    added: how about introducing 130 different spellings for the different meanings of the word "set" ?

    I'd burn Webster's dictionary and make Americans spell English properly.
