Who should be tested for COVID-19?

Covid has been in the US for 9 months.

If you tested everyone in April, that has no bearing on today.

If you continuously test your employees, that is advisable.

There is pretty much no need for me to test... I doubt go closer than 6ft from almost everyone.

What is the point of testing? If the test worked they way they claim it does you know either you've had it, you have it, you don't have it. So what? If you need a test to tell you you're ill, then you're not ill. They claim if you've had it you can catch it again, so what have we learned? If you don't have it, you can catch it in the next hour.

The truth is, is that the test has so many false positives, or is indicating you had the virus months ago. Many countries have locked down and many countries haven't locked down, and the death rates are comparable, except where you have countries with an excess of older and sick people, people who are low in vitamin D, or are overweight. 

It would be good, if practical.

I have never been tested because I live alone and don't have much contact with others and haven't had any symptoms.  I don't want to get it because I am in a risk group.

But for those who work or go to school or are in contact with others, it could be a valuable thing.  Anybody who tests positive can warn their contacts to isolate for 10 days.  

People who think they have symptoms or people that could have been exposed, should be tested. Personal care workers, long term care workers, any one that has close contact with other people on a regular basis, and hospital staff should also be tested. 

There was a single case of the virus in my work place, but it didn't cause a break out. I always wear a mask when I'm at work, or at an indoor public place and if I'm around some one I practice physical distancing. I also don't go out much to limit my chances of possibly being exposed. So I'm pretty confident that I don't have covid, I've been feeling healthy throughout covid. 

We are doing just that in the UK.

I would say everybody should be!

The purpose of testing is contact tracing and isolation to contain an outbreak. The test results need to be fast and accurate. Now that COVID-19 in the USA is not stoppable, they can't contact trace usefully. It has probably reached a point where we must get to 100% isolation and masks again. But the economic impact may now make that impossible. The Trump failure is so huge, we need experts to determine best path now. The anti-maskers also make enforcement impossible. I'm very intelligent and knowledgeable about all medical information released and status. Some people, and Trump, makes this impossible and many people are dying and getting sick and permanent effects that could have been prevented. Keep tests available because vulnerable people need protection. Wear the f'king masks  and keep separated - they do help the wearer also. The infected mask wearers are almost all asymptomatic. It is as close to a vaccine as we can get now.
