Is it illegal to give a creditor someone's correct number?

I keep getting calls from creditors for an individual who is not me. I was able to search this individuals name along with my phone number and I was able to locate him, his home address and his actual phone number. Is there any law against roviding his actual phone number to the creditor when they call me?

It is not illegal to provide accurate information.

That said YOU can't look up anyone's number that they don't already have.

If you think you can, you are seriously misinformed.

Update: The collector doesn't CARE how pays. They are also harassing whoever you found, and that is most likely NOT the actual debtor. They think if they call enough, you will pay them to go away.

No, sharing information is NOT illegal.  In fact, this is the ONLY way I stopped getting collection calls for someone whose name is similar to mine.  Good work on your part!

If the address and number are public, I would say no.
