That is definitely an idea I would support. I don't like that fact that people win elections by outspending each other rather than on the basis of their platform and qualifications.
Also, consider how much is spent on political campaigns; an estimated $14 billion in 2020 ($7 billion between Trump and Biden plus another $7 billion by congressional candidates). I don't even know what the figures are further down the ballot. Meanwhile people are losing their jobs, getting evicted, going hungry, and literally dying from Covid-19. What if we had spent those 14 billion dollars on actually helping people?
