i'm thinking about becoming a christian, is there anything i should do?

Don't, because your desire is obviously not sincere.  No one thinks about a belief system critically, except of course for atheists who want constant proof and analysis of everything.  You just become a Christian because of what you feel.  No true believer analyzes and decides to be a Christian.

You might want to join the majority of self-professed Christians in this forum by denigrating atheists and trying to scare them with threats of hell.  Or, alternatively, you might want to follow the teachings of the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 13:13.

Lose your critical thinking skills, believe in magic, accept the bible as literal, etc

Turn from and forsake sin and trust in Jesus Christ.  Read and study His inerrant word of the Bible often as you can.  Find a sound Bible believing church in your local area to join and be accountable to.

Pray for your sins to be forgiven by God and commit your life to Jesus Christ as the uniquely fully human and fully divine son of God, sinless, who sacrificed his life for you through his death on the Cross and who rose on the third day.  It's pretty well summed up by the creeds.

Use a capital letter for the word “I” and to start the word “Christian” - that would be a good start!
