If you get REALLY lucky, it's a loose or missing gas cap.  One of the chain car part stores MIGHT let you borrow or rent a code reader.

You need go to a repair shop or auto store and have them run a scan on the computer, it could be bad air flow, dirty oil, engine running hot bad sensor, or a loose wirer on a sensor! With out a full scan no one can tell you any thing.

What's wrong is you didn't go get the codes read and post the actual codes for us to be able to help!

My code reader is not psychic.

Without more information, the ONLY correct answer is that something sent the computer a reading that triggered the light.

STEP ONE is having the trouble code read.

Check the engine to see what the trouble codes are. The light gives a very simple direction....check the engine. You need to use an OBD2 scanner. Car part stores will do that free, but write down the codes exactly, then look up their definitions and test methods/diagnoses. Not one of the hunders of codes says " Replace_____part.". Parts clerks are not to give diagnoses unless they are also certified technicians or mechanics, and then, only after testing to see which parts or systems have failed.

Perhaps a loose nut behind the steering wheel. Otherwise, how would we know? Have it scanned and find out.
