Is one 12oz beer and one 5oz glass of red wine with dinner every night going to harm or kill you?

No. But why not just have 2 beers?

Probably not.  The science around the use of alcohol is interesting and constantly evolving.  It used to be believed that a couple of drinks a day was good for you, but that was refuted only last year.  Basically, those two drinks won't do you any good (other than making you feel good) and might increase very slightly your chances of getting some forms of cancer.
