Why does the military disqualify someone with autism?

Having poor social skills doesn’t make you unable to fight in combat.

    But, it might make it harder to work within a team, which is their main focus. 

    "Fighting in combat"  is something that most people in the military never do.  Most jobs are tech, support, intel, etc..   But, even among those that are exposed to combat - there's months of training beforehand, days of extreme boredom and then maybe actual combat.  All along the way, a unit works as a team - it isn't at all like the movies.

    Because the military is very social

    You need to socialize with members of your unit to be able to work together

    Antisocial people do not make good soldier's

    Has nothing to do with social skills.  It has everything to do with the fact the spectrum is so wide ranging that they decided it was easier to impose a blanket

     ban rather than go through the hassle of weeding out the one or 2 people who could actually handle all the unique stressors military service is involved with

    Yes it does make you less able to participate in combat.

    War is not a solitary activity. Military units are teams that work together closely. 

    How does the autistic soldier fit in.

    Answer they don't.

    People with autism generally have a hard time obeying and following orders.
