Did I get this job? ?

I went on a job interview recently and afterwards got an email saying "hi _____, Yes, Duncan informed me that his interview with you was very good and he thinks you'd be a great fit to the team. He said he will look at you starting towards the middle or end of February, as that is when the Millwrighting is starting up. He will let me know a start date soon and then I can send you the new hire paperwork, etc.". It has been 3 weeks since this. I emailed them to follow up but Havnt heard anything back for 2 days. What do you guys think? Did that email sound like I had the job and I should be patient? Or should I call them?

Update:

Follow up. I got the job. Turned out they are just bad communicators. Thanks for your feedback 😊

It sounds like you got the job.

But if you don't hear back by early next week, reach out to them once more.  Then move on if you still haven't heard from them.

Until you get a formal date to start and start on that date you have not 'got the job'... it looks promising you will but there is no guarantee

3 Weeks? You didn't get the job until an offer has been made.  This message is from someone who is acting hopeful, not confirming a hiring decision.  Sorry if I don't sound optimistic, I am just pointing out reality.  The reality is that employers typically don't hold back job offers unless they are considering other applicants, and applicants don't wait around for job offers because of their need for employment.  Thus in reality if an offer was coming it would have already arrived to give you ample time to give notice at your present position.  Good Luck.

you got the job, but you should respond back to that email letting them know you are are happy, and accept, or that you reject the job
