Why does the dmv get to Charge people Ever year for Registration when it should be a one time thing its just a fundraiser?

    Because it's not fair you should just stop paying this fundraiser! That will fix them.

    In other countries, annual registration is called by its real name, annual vehicle TAX or annual road TAX.  And yes it is a fundraiser so the DMV can operate and the roads maintained.

    The money goes towards repairing the roads you drive on. Roads are not for free.

    Yeah well mine is automatically combined with the auto insurance cost so I don't notice it.  People sell cars so you may not own it anymore and the DMV keeps track of the vehicle.

    First it is not the DMV it is the State assessing the amount of registrations fees that will be required based on needs of the state to keep up roads, traffic signs and signals, enforcement etc. Yes it is a yearly tax to own a car and if you don't like the tax WALK. There ain't no such thing as a free lunch.
