Should the drinking age be lowered or stay where it is ?

In which country? The legal drinking age where I live is 18, and it's the same in most of the Western world. If you're talking about the USA then yes, the 21 legal age is a hangover of the puritanical prohibition days. It should be 18 like in all civilised countries.

The only thing I would change in regard to the age would be service people in the military that can give their lives for their country should all have the right to drink.

Lower it all you want - - provided you raise the age for driving a motor vehicle to 21 or more.

I think it should drop down to 18. It used to be 18 in some states, until MADD lobbied to get it raised to 21 nationwide (what underage drinking has to do with drinking and driving is an open question...).
Seems to me that if at 18 you're mature enough to smoke, vote, play the lottery, and serve in the military, surely you're mature enough to have a beer in a pub. Maybe a graduated drinking age would do (21 for liquor for instance). I also think we should take steps to encourage schoolkids to exercise responsibility with it. Making alcohol totally forbidden until 21 just makes it more alluring, and then when exposed to it they don't know how to handle it, or themselves.

In the UK the age that which a person can legally be allowed to drink alcohol, in their own home with their guardian's approval, is 5. The age at which they can buy alcohol for themselves without the consent of any adult is 18.
That seems fine as it is to me.

in the US for most places only people 21 and up can purchase alcohol. In some states a person can drink as low as 18 years old with their parents. So in a way both higher and lower. I feel like 20 is a good legal age to purchase it and drink it without their parents.
