What interests you? Manga? Rock climbing? Knitting? Games? Find a group on Facebook devoted to your interest. Join. I joined a group for people who play the phone game EverMerge and half the time we converse about things that aren't the game. Or look for message boards and forums about your interest join them. That's how it's done.

Be in Catfish MTV show. Otherwise, make friends in person ensuring you know them well before inviting them to your house and going places.
