It is okay to give a man hug when you meet him for the first time?

I meet this man Online and we exchanges messages now he wants to meet me in person. Do you think it's okay to give him a hug when I see him at the restaurant for the first time or just shake hands. What do you think guys , I need opinion and see which is better. I've never meet anyone online in person this is my first time. Therefore, which is appropriate give him a hug or just shake hands.

Don't overthink this, because it can create awkwardness.  Just go with the flow. I would not plan on hugging him unless he comes towards you intending to do this.  Then you can make it a brief hug.  Otherwise, just see how it plays out.  It's never wrong to extend your hand, and it's also never wrong to do nothing.  Maybe just follow his lead.
