My ancestors were of Welsh / Scottish origin, sent to the new world as indentured slaves. Do we get Reparations?

    No.

From my understanding, these o people were sent, here to repay debt  that they owed.

Or the incured debt to get passage to America, in the first place.

Either way, they weren't just taken., for no wrongdoing.

Source(s): Who pays this reparations? The British?

No. Chattel slavery is totally different from an indentureship, and reparations would be for chattel slavery only. An indentured servantship is a promise to work for a set period to pay off a debt, the servant still retains all human rights they are entitled to during that period; including the right to quit, albeit they would have to repay the outstanding balance on their debt if they did so. Chattel slavery treated human beings as property with no more rights than a piece of furniture, and they could be sold as such.

You only became an indentured servants, because you wanted to go to North America but did not have enough money to pay for crossing the Atlantic with the money you actually did have.

In other words: your ancestors did have a choice either stay in Wales and Scotland without becoming servants OR become indentured servants FOR A TIME BEING (until they repaid their transport fees to the North American colonies).

A slave on the other hand, did NOT have a choice to become a slave. And they usually remained slaves for their whole life. And there was nothing they could do about it.

They were indentured servants. Once they worked off their debt or whatever they were free to go. And they could never be born indentured and their descendants were not going to be indentured either. The “owner” might feel a superiority to his subject, but it’s more classist then anything, like maybe a boss might feel for his employees. Classist beliefs are a little different than racist beliefs.

It’s a little different than chattel slavery.
